Recently, many countries have been developing various types of electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE). These range from portable and mobile chargers (e.g., IC-CPD) to wall-mount type and electric vehicle chargers with additional electrical installations. However, while the international standard for testing the safety of EVSE is outlined in IEC 61851, it is insufficient to provide appropriate safety evaluation methods for the numerous types of EVSE currently under development. This study compares the structures and components used in DC EVSE and proposes essential test items for safety. Additionally, appropriate testing methods for each type of EVSE and specific parts have been suggested.
