摘要

Soil is the foundation of crop evolution and plant lifecycle, making its conservation dynamic for fertility, soil health, erosion control, environmental sustainability and food security. Conversely, soil degradation nowadays poses a chief hazard to biodiversity and worldwide food systems. Climate change and unsustainable farming practises are degrading soil health, making innovation conservation approaches essential. Optimizing resources use in agriculture is crucial for sustainable soil management. The integration of modern technologies can’t be looked down to achieve the above motives. In modern era, Artificial Intelligence (AI) has emerged as one of the revolutionary technologies with the potential to offer solutions for soil conservation practices and the increasing challenges of soil loss and degradation. This chapter explores the harness potential of AI in soil moisture and nutrient monitoring, erosion risk prediction, conservation strategies optimization and supporting precision agriculture, carbon restoration and soil health monitoring. This chapter highlights the role of AI with the key technologies in soil conservation, soil assessment application coverages, erosion prediction, nutrient management, land use planning. It also discusses key challenges and concludes with strategies and policies for sustainable soil health.
