This research investigates the capacity of environmental education to increase awareness, shape eco-friendly attitudes, and promote sustainable behavior among people, particularly in institutional and community contexts. With the growing environmental issues such as pollution, global warming, and inappropriate waste disposal, the research emphasizes the potential of formal and informal environmental education programs to bring about change. A quantitative design was applied using a systematic questionnaire administered to 200 samples from urban and semi-urban regions. Descriptive statistics and inferential testing (independent samples t-test and Welch’s t-test) were utilized on SPSS to examine effects of education exposure and institutional participation toward environmental awareness and behavioral modification. The findings revealed that the participants exposed to environmental education were significantly more aware (p < 0.001; Cohen’s d = 1.17), and the students in institutions offering environmental programs possessed more environmentally friendly behavior (p = 0.001; Cohen’s d = 0.70). This research differs from the existing literature because in this research, the twofold function of education and institutional action was empirically validated across different demographic populations. The study discovers that the integration of environmental education in curriculums and community events can inculcate long-term environmental stewardship. The study offers valuable lessons for policymakers, teachers, and sustainability professionals who want to maximize environmental awareness through targeted education interventions.

摘要
