The Mathematical Studies of the Rays and the Propagation of Light from 1824 to 1846
摘要
This chapter mainly outlines the mathematical studies of the rays and the propagation of light by Hamilton and MacCullagh from 1824 to 1846. It will be shown that MacCullagh’s mathematical studies of light have significances in the time derivative of vorticity, the development of curl, and even the development of chirality.
