Implementation of GEOREC: A Digital Transformation in Geothermal Power Generation Reflected by People, Process, Technology (PPT) Framework
摘要
Indonesia seeks to replace its coal-based energy mix with clean and reliable sources. Geothermal energy presents a promising solution with its capacity expected to grow much higher along with hydro and biomass in Indonesia’s electricity plan. Geo Dipa, an Indonesian geothermal power company, implemented the Geo Dipa Optimization, Reliability, and Efficiency Centre (GEOREC) to achieve optimal plant performance. This paper examines GEOREC through the lens of the PPT framework. It starts with developing employee capabilities, responsibilities, and adaptability for successful implementation. Furthermore, it explores Geo Dipa’s adoption of asset management practices aligned with ISO 55001 and ISO 55000 standards. Finally, the paper investigates the gaps identified in technologies based on the ISA-95 hierarchy models, specifically focusing on operational technology (OT) and information technology (IT). The paper also highlights the tangible benefits of GEOREC. Digitalized plant monitoring reduced unproductive time by 44%. Utilizing a centralized IoT server facilitated faster descriptive and diagnostic analysis, and predictive analytics. These implementations resulted in realized gain/loss avoidance of $400,800 and gain/loss opportunity of $626,000.
