Noise pollution is a serious public health issue in urban areas globally. It stems from various sources and can have widespread effects on human health and well-being. Noise, often described as unwanted or harmful sound, can significantly impact daily life. Exposure to high levels of noise can result in severe health problems, impacting both physical and psychological well-being. The rapid industrialization, urbanization, and infrastructure development, along with the increasing number of motor vehicles and road networks, has significantly exacerbated noise pollution. This situation has reached alarming levels, posing a severe public health challenge. The traffic noise is a significant contributor to noise pollution in urban areas, with profound effects on the health and well-being of exposed inhabitants. The noise pollution poses a significant threat not only to human health and quality of life but also to the well-being of animals and birds in ecosystem. The present work is focused on the assessment and analysis of vehicular noise pollution in Jharsuguda city, Odisha. The assessment of vehicular noise has been made at different important locations of the city. The hourly data has been collected from each location and has been analyzed further. Along with noise pollution, the air pollution of the city has been studied. This study clearly revealed the severe issue of noise pollution and air pollution plaguing the city.
