To understand the physics of the nucleus it is essential to apply the basic findings of quantum physics to this subject. This chapter shall give a short introduction not so much about the history and derivation of quantum physics (the results of experimental nuclear research themselves have contributed largely to the formulation of quantum physics), but rather looks at its consequences.
