My Spiritual Journey Through Pediatric Oncology
摘要
Physician Joshua Rubin reflects on the integration of science as an important component of his spiritual life. Rubin’s spirituality has never been connected to religious communities. He leads what he considers to be a deeply spiritual life without any belief in gods, prophets, or messiahs, or adherence to any systematized definitions or approaches to attaining and living a spiritual life. As it relates to pediatric neuro-oncology, his spirituality draws from the ways in which his general habits, the way he talks to people, the emotional connections he frequently makes with them, his love of nature, which led him to science and medicine, his spiritual connection to earth and sky, all enabled him to succeed and engage in the experiences, which, of course, deepened his personal knowledge and awareness of so many things, including the time in life when death is creeping in until there’s no more life left as we know it.
