Spiritual Pain Evaluation as Comprehensive Assessment
摘要
Chaplain Joshua Berg disproves the presumption that “God” is the underlying commonality among chaplains. This is an expression he has heard repeatedly in chaplaincy spaces. It is the intention behind this expression, truly meaningful to so many, that was troubling to him as a student training to be a chaplain (student of clinical pastoral education). This struggle with reconciling “belief in God” as a chaplain catalyzed the development of an assessment methodology and processes of “care of spirit” that he describes in his chapter. Using clinical vignettes, he shows the efficacy of his decolonial spiritual assessment tool that does not alienate nontheists/atheists.
