Experimenting with Generative AI in Screenwriting for Film Schools
摘要
This paper presents an experimental study on the integration of generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) into film education, focussing on the collaborative creation of a short screenplay. Using GenAI tools, we developed a multistage workflow combining AI-generated outputs, knowledge bases in history and psychology, and human-in-the-loop revisions. The process produced a narrative structure and screenplay, which were subsequently evaluated for narrative coherence, originality, and feasibility. Beyond the artistic result, the experiment highlights the pedagogical potential of GenAI as a creative partner in film schools. We argue that GenAI can foster creativity, critical reflection, and AI literacy when embedded in a structured, human-centred learning framework. At the same time, we discuss limitations such as historical inaccuracies, narrative inconsistencies, and ethical sensitivities to the portrayal of traumatic contexts. Our findings suggest that GenAI, when carefully integrated, can serve as both a creative tool and an educational resource for training future filmmakers.
