Visual Content Analysis of the Municipality of Ixelles Through Its Websites
摘要
This chapter investigates how the Municipality of Ixelles constructs its institutional image and sustainability narratives through its official digital platforms. Adopting a multimodal and visual content analysis approach, it examines website design, visual representations, language choices, and symbolic elements featured in web content between 2018 and 2024. The study reveals the predominance of particular discourses—such as environmental modernity and cultural diversity—while also identifying notable absences or silences concerning social inequality, political dissent, and grassroots initiatives. It highlights the role of digital aesthetics in shaping public perceptions and institutional legitimacy within the urban landscape. Overall, the chapter contributes to a deeper understanding of how municipalities strategically communicate sustainability and identity in the digital age.
