Considerations for Designing an Electric Vehicle Prototype Using Numerical Analysis
摘要
Electric vehicles (EVs) are considered the future of cars due to their superior efficiency, low emissions, and quiet operation. However, there are still critical problems to resolve regarding EVs. There are three primary challenges related to this technology: limited driving range, long charging time, and high cost. The challenges outlined above are all related to the vehicle's battery package. Batteries should provide sufficient energy to enable a certain travel range. A vehicle should also accelerate and decelerate with sufficient power. This study presents some considerations when designing EVs' control and charging systems. It helps us select the best components that fit all needs. This includes motors, control and charging systems, as well as an inverter and a DC/DC converter suitable for the motor used in the study using MATLAB Simulink. Based on the results, it was determined that the most suitable motor for cars is a three-phase induction motor with lithium-ion (Li-ion) batteries. In addition, the DC/DC converter of the Boost type is the most reliable method of reducing voltage while maintaining frequency stability.
