How the Corona Pandemic Changed Consulting in Germany

In this paper, changes in management consulting as a result of the COVID pandemic are investigated, particularly with regard to the necessity and consequences of using digital technologies and virtual consulting formats. As part of a mixed-method approach, quantitative surveys are combined with a qualitative survey component (expert interviews). Collaboration at the client interface in particular had to change significantly as a result of the pandemic. Despite some drawbacks, virtual consulting formats worked better than many expected and continue to be used even after corona. However, due to new work formats and reduced personal contact, new challenges also arose in the internal consulting organization as well as in consulting projects that had to be dealt with by management.
