Sphenopalatine Artery Ligation and Pterygopalatine Fossa
摘要
The sphenopalatine artery (SPA) is one of the main blood supplies to the sinonasal cavity and septum. Identification of the SPA is important in cases of refractory epistaxis where surgical intervention may be required. The SPA is a terminal branch of the internal maxillary artery which gives off multiple arterial branches in the pterygopalatine fossa (PPF). This chapter will highlight steps to identify the SPA and other anatomical landmarks within the PPF.
