Health literacy is crucial for public health, impacting healthcare utilization, costs, and individual behaviors. Recognizing this, KCGG collaborates with public libraries, local governments, and patient organizations to enhance health literacy among citizens, healthcare professionals, and librarians. This initiative, unique in Belgium, brings together information specialists and health experts to offer accessible, targeted sessions titled “Dr. Google: seeking reliable health information.” These sessions are tailored to diverse audiences, covering topics such as evaluating AI tools for health, choosing suitable health apps, and improving sleep. This paper, based on literature and firsthand experience, provides practical guidelines for medical information professionals on managing societal outreach projects that promote health literacy, highlighting the benefits and challenges of collaborative knowledge-sharing.
