Consensus at the Durban Conference of 2001 evolved through highly valued, intricate, structured, and inclusive dialogue and negotiations at all levels, and among all regions of the world. The contestation of the global consensus encapsulated in the Durban Declaration and Programme of Action (DDPA) is ill founded and arguably a replication of the mentalities addressed by the World Conference per se. By analysing the literature on the Durban process and the narratives of Durban luminaries, it is ascertained that this premeditated conflictual approach originated from the Unites States prior to the Conference, and it preceded the Conference side event that allegedly tainted the Durban record with the vicious allegations of anti-Semitism. The reading of the deliberations of a side event into a written outcome document of a state level conference is an endeavour of questionable intent. States and the leadership of the Conference exercised tact and diplomacy to successfully safeguard the process that was at risk of collapse under the weight of its extremely sensitive agenda. The high value of the DDPA as the comprehensive framework on racism, racial discrimination and other intolerances remains its life force against state sanctioned misinformation and disinformation.

摘要
