We can use maps of the Milky Way at visible and far-infrared wavelengths to identify and characterize galactic ecosystems. These stellar nurseries appear to represent especially dense and bright parts of the Milky Way’s ornate nebular architecture. From estimates of their distances, we can place them in face-on renderings of our home galaxy.

摘要

We can use maps of the Milky Way at visible and far-infrared wavelengths to identify and characterize galactic ecosystems. These stellar nurseries appear to represent especially dense and bright parts of the Milky Way’s ornate nebular architecture. From estimates of their distances, we can place them in face-on renderings of our home galaxy.
