In this study a numerical approach for assessing the response of no-tension axial-symmetric masonry domes is proposed. The axial-symmetrical feature is used as key assumption for performing a 1D analysis allowing to model only the dome meridian but taking into account the parallel effects. The numerical model is performed using i) a modified Lagrangian and ii) a NURBS-based finite element approaches, ensuring, with both the approaches, the representation of the effective curvature of the dome. Numerical tests validate the model’s accuracy against existing benchmarks, highlighting its effectiveness in capturing the mechanical response of no-tension masonry axial-symmetric domes.
