Wetland degradation in agricultural landscapes has significantly impacted biodiversity, particularly bird populations that depend on these ecosystems for habitat and sustenance. Wetland rehabilitation plays a crucial role in enhancing bird abundance, offering both ecological and conservation benefits by restoring degraded wetlands in agricultural areas. This chapter explores the necessity of wetland rehabilitation and its potential to mitigate habitat loss. Multiple methods of bird abundance estimation such as field surveys, remote sensing, and bioacoustic monitoring are presented. Wetland restoration enhances the quality of habitats, species diversity, and population density. Different studies in different regions of the globe present the benefits of wetland rehabilitation on bird assemblages. With these benefits, resource constraints persist, policy lacunae, and land-use conflicts still exist. For the overcoming of these challenges, conservation programs involving integrated ecological monitoring and policy interventions are necessary. This chapter stresses the effective role of wetland restoration in maintaining bird populations as well as ensuring environmentally friendly agricultural patterns.

摘要
