Data and Analysis
摘要
The following chapter focuses on queenly discourses of power, outlining the queens’ patterns of linguistic behaviour through the application of the previously presented methodology. The analysis proceeds according to three steps: (a) selection of scenes in which Shakespeare’s queens are present; (b) analysis of the interactions; (c) interpretation and comparison according to the contextual and methodological premises, with the purpose of demonstrating the linguistic performance of agency. The study is not only based on the interactive display of political face, but also profits from the progressive nature of Shakespearean Histories to research the queens as continuous characters. The excerpts are divided according to a bipolar succession, revolving around strategies of politeness and impoliteness: hating scenes vs. wooing scenes.
