Remote Sensing and Environmental Parameter Analysis of Rajpura, Punjab Using GIS for Precision Farming Application
摘要
Precision farming through Geographical Information System (GIS) and remote sensing is revolutionizing modern agriculture. It enables data driven decision making, optimizing resource utilization and improved crop productivity. Punjab is one of the bread-basket of India. The increasing challenge of climate variability, soil degradation and resource depletion in Punjab highlight the need of precision farming. In the paper, environmental monitoring to essential key agricultural parameters of Rajpura, Punjab is extracted through GIS. The study is done for five years from 2020 to 2024. The parameters essential for precision farming like tropospheric NO2, air temperature, rainfall precipitation, vegetation indices (NDVI and EVI) and soil moisture are examined. The parameters are analyzed using multiple satellites Sentinal-2, Sentinel-5P, ERA5-Land, CHRIPS and NASA SMAP using Google Earth Engine (GEE). The results indicate a strong correlation with soil moisture, precipitation and vegetation health. The research demonstrates how aggregating and analyzing monthly averages of these parameter can inform agricultural decision-making processes, optimize resource utilization and enhance crop productivity. The methodology presented offers scalable, data driven solutions for implementing smart farming practices in Punjab.
