This paper presents a comprehensive review on residual biomass as a sustainable energy resource, emphasizing its role in advancing the circular bioeconomy. The paper explores technological advancements in biomass conversion, evaluates energy production potential through life cycle assessment, and highlights digital technologies such as AI and IoT. Policy frameworks, implementation gaps, and future research directions are also discussed.
