Epigenetics, ADHD and Digital Media Usage: Computational Analysis of Development and Traditional and Mindfulness-Based Interventions
摘要
This chapter provides a computational analysis of the behavioural effects of ADHD and its epigenetic factors including the DNA methylation in relation to the ST3GAL3 gene. As individuals with ADHD are at risk of consuming digital media in an unhealthy manner, the behavioural effects are considered in the context of problematic digital media use (PDMU). This is examined in relation to the associated neurological impairments in self-regulation as well as reward processing. Subsequently both traditional (pharmacological) and non-traditional (mindfulness) interventions are proposed. The paper includes a systematic literature review combined with a higher-order adaptive dynamical system modelling approach to simulate and analyse these adaptive mental and behavioural dynamics.
