Gender-Specific Socioeconomic Effects and Cultural Resilience Strategies in Water-Scarce Indian Landscapes
摘要
One of the most critical problems in water scarcity is having significant social and cultural consequences. This study explores how declining freshwater availability affects livelihood, industries, migration, gender equity, and cultural heritage. Present study employed a mixed-method approach, which connects secondary data analysis with real-world case studies, viz. the Marathwada drought in Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu water crisis, along with water conservation practices in Rajasthan. Graphical analysis highlights declining per capita availability, sectoral water use, and the demographic extent of scarcity. The findings of the present study emphasize the need for a healthy balance between the traditional knowledge of the community, the input of scientists, and participation of community in water management.
