This chapter presents a vision for cultivating transformational wisdom as a pathway to addressing the global challenge of sustainability. Transformational wisdom, defined as the capacity to improve the world in meaningful and enduring ways, requires individuals to act with concern for others, including the natural world. Drawing on recent scholarship in sustainability education and wisdom science, we explore how educators can foster the core conditions of transformational wisdom. Anchored in the 12 conditions outlined by Sternberg and Soleimani Dashtaki (2024), we examine how competencies such as concern for others, systems thinking, creative and critical thinking, and team skills can be nurtured through intentional pedagogy. We offer both conceptual framing and practical strategies for applying this framework in educational settings. Although individual-level change alone may not bring about systemic transformation, teaching for transformational wisdom remains a vital contribution to a broader, multi-stakeholder response to the wicked problem of sustainability.

摘要
