Between Hostland and Homeland: French Overseas Chinese and the New China, 1949–1960

This chapter seeks to trace the origins of the southern Zhejiang Chinese community in France since the early twentieth century, exploring the impact of Chinese revolutionary political movement such as Land Reform and Great Leap Forward on Chinese migration in western Europe under the communist regime following the establishment of the People’s Republic of China. Furthermore, it delves into the reasons behind their migration, their integration into French society, and their domestic relatives’ living conditions during this period.
