This work presents an approach to interacting with LOERIC, a music performance system for Irish Traditional Dance Music (ITM) previously developed to be highly customisable and reactive in real time. Using a commonly available MIDI controller, LOERIC can be steered and fine-tuned to follow specific musical intentions and create new performance possibilities. The potential for embodied, touch-driven interaction, how it relates to previous research on LOERIC in terms of autonomy and trust, and its creative potential are discussed, together with future work and ethical considerations.
