PV Waste Assessment of Northern Cyprus Based on On-Grid, Low-Voltage Installations Between 2014 and 2024
摘要
PV Technologies has several advantages for clean electricity production. However, they complete their operational life in 25–30 years and become waste. PV Waste has toxic contents, and landfilling results in environmental problems. Northern Cyprus is one of the island states in the Mediterranean region that has started to use PV Technologies for electricity generation. However, Northern Cyprus's limited resources necessitate a plan for PV Waste Management. The first step in a proper plan for PV waste management is inventory analysis of the PV waste. This study investigates the amount of PV Waste generated by on-grid low-voltage installations between 2014 and 2024. The PV waste assessment is done according to Early Loss and Regular Loss Scenarios. Results showed that Northern Cyprus will have considerable PV waste within a decade. A proper plan is required to recycle the PV waste to prevent associated environmental problems.
