Environmental pollution as a result of the rapidly increasing world population and industrialization has brought problems with it as a result. Societies that cannot realize the damage to the environment have started to be late in taking measures. At the same time, due to reasons such as the disappearance of respect for the environment, it has become urgent and obligatory to take some measures for the environment in the world we live in. Protecting the nature we live in should be considered one of the most important duties of human beings, and protecting our environment and not harming the world we live in should be our most basic necessity. In this context, environmental awareness has become an important issue in terms of tourism. The inclusion of “Climate Action in Tourism” in the Action Agenda at the Baku 2024 COP29 high-level meetings, which is one of the important steps towards green hotels and sustainable tourism, has been a turning point for an important economic sector such as tourism. The meeting held at the closing panel at COP29 aimed to implement plans that will focus on practical and innovative solutions that can accelerate the tourism sector's climate action. Motivated by COP29, our research examines the smart check-in application, which is one of the innovative solutions in environmentally friendly green hotels in the tourism sector within the scope of sensitivity to environmental pollution. Through this solution, which aims to reduce the consumption of plastic cards, hotels have shown that they can be more environmentally friendly and that Green Technology can produce innovative solutions that are both smart and sustainable in tourism.
