Contribution of GoMap.Az Project to the Climate Change Issues
摘要
GoMap.Az project ( http://www.gomap.az ) is a region-level project that includes a wide spectrum of innovative solutions. The project was designed and implemented without taking into account the environmental issues. GoMap.Az is the implementation of a web portal providing online geoinformation services covering areas of three countries: Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Armenia. The contribution and commitment of all actors are required to the fight against climate change ( https://www.climate-chance.org ). Software engineering practices affect the environment and sustainability and should be studied for impact on climate change issues. This paper considers the post-evaluation of the contribution of this project to Climate Change issues. This paper evaluates the GoMap.Az project's contribution to climate change issues through two perspectives: (1) its role as a tool to optimize resource use and reduce fuel and energy consumption, and (2) the environmental burden associated with the tool’s development and operation. By exploring these aspects, the authors aim to identify lessons for designing and implementing future information systems that align with environmental sustainability goals. This evaluation highlights the importance of integrating climate-conscious practices into software development and regional innovation projects.
