Artificial intelligence and students’ engagement have become a trending topic among scholars and educators. Artificial intelligence has penetrated every nook and cranny of society and the world at large. Its usefulness, benefits, and rapid transformation in homes, business organizations, government agencies, and education have remained a welcome technological development. This study aimed to use bibliometric analysis to identify and analyze publications on artificial intelligence and student engagement. Methods: Descriptive statistics were used for percentages, and the VOSviewer version 1.6.20 was used for the bibliometric analysis by year of publication, co-authorship, authors, keywords, countries, organizations, and journal articles. The PRISMA guideline was used in identifying, screening, and including a total number of 304 studies from the Scopus database from 2015 to 2020. Results: The result of the findings shows that 2019 was the peak of publications on AI and SE. Four countries, Spain, the United States, Austria, and the United Kingdom, dominated the publications, but only the United States emerged as the highest in the study of AI and student engagement. Conclusion: This study suggests that future research should integrate other preceding years of research to investigate if there is a continuous rise in artificial intelligence and student engagement in the educational system. However, in this rapid movement of AI advancement, it will be presumptuous to state that there is a fast change and integration of AI in education if there is no evidence to back it up, and also to investigate the ethical challenges involved in it. The study recommends that other researchers make use of these findings to generate scientific publications on the potential usage of artificial intelligence and student engagement in the educational system.
