Smart Regional Development Through Cutting-Edge Technologies: A Bibliometric Analysis
摘要
The constant migration of the population to cities and the increase in tourist flows put pressure on cities to adopt new approaches to remain sustainable. On the other hand, the desertification of rural areas and climate change affect agricultural production. In this context, a set of cutting-edge technologies has provided solutions that aim to mitigate problems arising from population growth and migratory movements and, consequently, create conditions to leverage greater territorial cohesion and a more balanced, smart regional development. This article presents a quantitative and direct analysis of the trends and contributions in this field of investigation over the last ten years through a reflection on the results of a bibliometric analysis, being selected 1014 journal articles over an initial extraction of 1793 articles indexed across the databases Scopus and Web of Science. The results indicated that the current trends are digital transformation and smart cities, with sustainable development considered a motor theme, supported by technological advances such as the Internet of Things and Cloud Computing. Other important topics are connected to remote sensing and precision agriculture. In terms of countries, China is the principal contributor, with nine out of the ten principal affiliations, as well as being the country with the highest scientific production and international collaborations. Regarding sources, Remote Sensing has the most publications, while the Journal of Cleaner Production holds the highest impact factor among the ten principal sources.
