The rapid expansion of data analytics and artificial intelligence (AI) has created a critical demand for specialized professionals, challenging universities to offer graduate programs aligned with technological and labor market trends. This study explores the feasibility of establishing a master’s program in Applied Information Technologies with a major in Data Analytics and AI at the National University of Chimborazo (Ecuador). A mixed-methods design was employed, integrating quantitative surveys of 308 potential students and 187 professionals with qualitative interviews. The findings revealed a marked interest in specialized training: 81% of respondents favored ICT-related graduate studies, and 62% expressed specific interest in the proposed program. The analysis also identified a disconnection between existing academic offerings and market demands, along with a need for curricula that integrate ethics, leadership, and interdisciplinary skills. The program proposal is consistent with Ecuador's regulatory framework and supports the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly those related to education, innovation, and employment. These results substantiate the relevance and viability of implementing a postgraduate program that strengthens national human capital and responds to the evolving digital economy.
