Comparative Analysis of the Infrastructure and Location of Social Interest Housing in Barranquilla and Its Metropolitan Area and the Impact on Quality of Life
摘要
The objective of this study is to comparatively analyze the infrastructure and spatial location of social housing projects in Barranquilla and its metropolitan area and the impact on quality of life. A sample of 59 Social Interest Housing (VIS) projects in Barranquilla and its metropolitan area was taken, with the aim of comparatively analyzing their infrastructure and location. A quantitative analysis of descriptive scope was carried out using secondary sources where contrasting patterns were identified between projects located in peripheral areas and those located in central sectors of the city. The results reveal that there are more affordable prices, higher percentages of completed work and lower maintenance costs in municipalities such as Soledad or Puerto Colombia. However, this leads to tensions linked to territorial disconnection and the scarce urban support infrastructure in the city of Barranquilla. The study allows for a critical reflection on the current model of VIS provision and advocates for public policies that balance economic accessibility, architectural quality, strategic location and inclusive urban design.
