CAMS-F-Edge: A Context-Aware Framework for Edge-Enabled Mobile Applications in Low-Connectivity Environments
摘要
In remote or rural areas with limited or intermittent connectivity, mobile applications must operate reliably and in real-time. Traditional cloud-dependent context-aware systems often suffer from latency issues and data unavailability under such conditions. This paper introduces CAMS-F-Edge, an edge-enabled extension of the CAMS framework, designed to support offline-first functionality, reduced latency, and real-time decision-making in context-aware mobile applications. Built using Flutter, integrated with local Firebase storage, and enhanced with IoT sensor data and MQTT-based communication, CAMS-F-Edge empowers mobile devices to autonomously manage contextual information and act accordingly, even in the absence of internet connectivity. A case study focused on rural logistics demonstrates the applicability and performance of the approach, showing promising results in terms of responsiveness, robustness, and contextual adaptability.
