Life-Based Learning (LBL) plays a significant role in helping individuals navigate the challenges of the twenty-first century by integrating real-life experiences into the educational process. This chapter explores the application of LBL in personal and leisure settings, emphasising its ability to enhance individuals’ competencies and capabilities through everyday activities. It discusses how personal and leisure time can be utilised for productive learning, as opposed to unproductive time spent without gaining new skills or knowledge. By distinguishing between productive and unproductive leisure activities, this chapter demonstrates how LBL can improve time management, critical thinking, and personal development. The integration of LBL into personal and leisure activities allows individuals to acquire knowledge naturally and engagingly, contributing to lifelong learning. The chapter proposes a model for incorporating LBL into these settings, which not only enhances personal growth but also contributes to the development of practical skills, such as financial management and culinary arts. Moreover, it discusses how educational institutions can support this process by incorporating elements of LBL into curricula and fostering learning environments that extend beyond the classroom. The chapter highlights the importance of recognising everyday life as a valuable learning opportunity, with potential benefits for both individuals and society. It concludes by underscoring the role of universities in promoting LBL and creating spaces where students can engage in both formal and informal learning experiences.
