Reflecting on Current and Future Issues for Queer(ing) Public Policy
摘要
Proposing an alternative framework for policymaking on complex and politically contested issues requires envisioning improved understanding through deconstructing existing assumptions about how the policy process operates for marginalized communities and identifying pathways for advancement in both scholarship and practice. This concluding chapter reflects on the current challenges and future directions, drawing on lessons learned from the research presented in this book. These reflections provide practical guidelines for scholars pursuing collective learning and for practitioners seeking to advance the lives of queer individuals through effective public policies that address the intersectional dimensions of LGBTQ+ issues. Queering public policy presents opportunities for reimagining political representation, developing more nuanced and responsive policy solutions, and fostering coalitions for activism and mobilization that transcend siloed advocacy or narrow policy definitions. The chapter concludes that queer policy scholarship serves as a starting point rather than a final destination for dialogue that connects queer theory with public policy analysis and practice. Future directions include expanding comparative research across diverse political contexts, deepening intersectional analysis in policy design, and strengthening connections between academic frameworks and grassroots advocacy efforts.
