Queer theory and queering processes have gained increasing attention in both academic and practical domains. This chapter examines the various dimensions, definitions, key scholars, and cases that contribute to the understanding of the intersection between queer theory and public policy. Through a scoping review of the literature, 59 documents were analyzed to identify established patterns in how queer theory has been applied to public policy. The findings reveal nuanced and diverse understandings of the concept across different academic disciplines. Empirical evidence from 58 cases spanning 18 countries contributes to a broader exploration of queer policy variations across geographical contexts. This scoping review supports the conclusion that applying queer concepts to public policy entails challenging binary and cisheteronormative perspectives to policymaking across diverse geographical settings. Additionally, queering the policy process involves deconstructing institutional practices and normative assumptions about LGBTQ+ lives, experiences, identities, behaviors, spaces, and power relations that have historically marginalized queer voices and perspectives. The chapter establishes a theoretical foundation for understanding how queer frameworks can transform policy analysis and practice.

摘要
