Supporting Staff
摘要
Chapter 7 argues for better support for all staff doing the skilled, difficult and stressful work of caring and educating children with complex needs. The focus is on reflective practice that improves staff understanding of the impact of the work on themselves and their practice. The chapter outlines the process of individual and group supervision at the Mulberry Bush. Practice examples containing real-life dilemmas are taken from a range of other different settings. The chapter acknowledges that reflective practice focussing on the emotional impact of the work on oneself is a new form of support and supervision for many mainstream settings.
