Telehealth: Overview, Policy, and Reimbursement
摘要
The healthcare service delivery paradigm has significantly changed due to technological advancements coupled with recent mandates and restrictions on in-person care delivery established since the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) public health emergency. As a result, delivery of healthcare services using telehealth has become commonplace. This chapter provides an overview of telehealth policies including federal and state telehealth regulations; waivers implemented during the COVID-19 pandemic regarding privacy and security, location, provider eligibility, licensure requirements, and controlled substance regulations; financial and service reimbursement policies that constrain telehealth use; and patient and provider experiences with telehealth.
