Amphibian Road Ecology and Mitigation: A Synthesis of Progress and Lingering Unanswered Questions
摘要
Amphibians have an unenviable position as the most threatened group of vertebrates, but they also often represent the majority of vertebrates killed on roads and are considered exceptionally at risk from roads. Amphibian road mitigation has progressed substantially, and for many temperate species, there are now well-tested examples of designs that can effectively prevent mortality from car traffic and ensure safe road crossing. Progress gained must be followed by improved standardization, prioritized focus on information gaps, and a move to mitigation of non-lethal impacts.
