Working with Music
摘要
This chapter focuses on working with music in therapy and begins by exploring existing literature on this approach. It will then move on to examples from the author’s clinical practice of using music with clients, highlighting the benefits for the therapeutic process. The focus will then be on a workshop on the power of therapeutic music, which the author delivered several times with different groups of students on therapy courses. This section will incorporate the various sections of the workshop that facilitators can follow when delivering a similar workshop for a therapy group, a student group, or a group of supervisees. The chapter will then focus on case studies of using music from a pluralistic stance, including topics such as the client selecting music for a therapy session and using music to help express unresolved grief, unexpressed anger and other emotions. The final section will explore how therapeutic songwriting can be adopted.
