This chapter focuses on visualisations, progressive muscle relaxation, and affirmations, which can be offered to clients to help with emotional and psychological distress. From a pluralistic perspective, the decision to use a strategy will be agreed collaboratively between therapist and client. These exercises can be either facilitated by the therapist in sessions or practised by clients at home between sessions. Continual client feedback is achieved by adopting a dialogical approach, in which the therapist asks purposeful questions, helping monitor the strategy's effectiveness and identify necessary adjustments to ensure the client gains optimal benefit.
