Importance of Zero Energy Buildings in Sustainable Development
摘要
Zero Energy Buildings (ZEBs) are an innovative approach toward sustainable development that addresses critical global challenges such as energy consumption, climate change, and urbanization. These structures produce an equivalent amount of energy from renewable sources as they use, applying sophisticated energy-efficient design methodologies. This chapter investigates the potential role of ZEBs in reducing greenhouse gas emissions, improving energy security, and contributing to attaining United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It enumerates several environmental, economic, and social benefits related to ZEBs: reduced energy cost, improved indoor air quality, increased property value, and more. The chapter examines the factors of adoption of ZEBs, including supporting policies, regulations, and the market. In the literature, the need for ZEBs is considered as essential for fostering sustainable and cleaner future.
