Exploring the Role of Digital Transformation in Reshaping Teacher-Student Relationship in Online Environments: Moodle as a Case Study
摘要
In the current digital era, relationships have undergone a significant metamorphosis. The daily consumption of various communication tools has helped to forge new relationship dynamics. The educational field is among the sectors that have witnessed notable transformation since learning is no longer limited solely to face-to-face settings, but it extends to digital environments as well. These digital environments offer users a wide range of tools that facilitate connecting and communicating with one another. In other words, digital transformation has created an emerging relationship: distant yet connected. Therefore, distance in digital environments raises concerns, particularly in the context of the teacher-student relationship, which may lead to miscommunication, misunderstandings, and communication gaps. Thus, this study aims to explore the teacher-student relationship in light of digital transformation, specifically the influence of distance within Moodle platform on the teacher-student relationship. The findings collected through a survey and online interviews reveal that students believe the Moodle platform is a beneficial space where they can easily communicate with their teachers. However, it still lacks the genuineness and intimacy of-face to-face interactions.
