Conclusion and Future Directions
摘要
This monograph begins in Chap. 1 with Fiona’s father making tea in an apartment where tiny sensors quietly monitored his actions, providing timely prompts when needed and peace of mind to his family through unobtrusive support. From this motivating scenario, we set out to examine how the convergence of artificial intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT) can transform aging support from traditional reactive care models to proactive, predictive, and personalized systems. Across Chaps. 2 – 14 , we have developed a coherent framework that integrates device-free environmental intelligence, wearable and physiological sensing, interactive ambient systems, and AI-empowered solutions into a privacy-preserving, adaptive, and human-centered ecosystem. We synthesize the technical and translational contributions, reflect on evidence and limitations, and outline a forward-looking research and deployment agenda that remains faithful to the goals articulated at the outset: dignified, independent, and safe aging supported by trustworthy ambient intelligence.
