Enhancement of the Roman Baths in Curinga: A Validated Decision-Making Process
摘要
The paper discusses the process that led to establishing criteria for enhancing an under-visited archaeological site, the Roman bath complex in Curinga, a small town in southern Italy. The Roman bath was built between rivers and streams during the first and second centuries AD. The complex underwent many changes throughout centuries, after which it was abandoned in the sixth century AD. The building is now in ruins and is in need of intervention for its conservation and enjoyment, as it is evidence of the culture and architecture of the Roman era. The innovative methodology of the research defines guided criteria for enhancement based on 20 best practices selected during the international Reuse Italy 2023 contest, for which the Terme di Curinga was chosen as a case study. This competition focused explicitly on the reuse and enhancement of baths, providing an ideal framework of examples. To validate these criteria, it has been developed a project that successfully meet all the common criteria, demonstrating the practical effectiveness of the approach.
