In recent years, smart city applications have become a key objective of urban planning and urban policy. Many local authorities around the world, including those in Türkiye, are implementing new projects to identify and resolve urban problems, making city life more planned, comfortable, peaceful, and healthy. While the widespread use of digital technologies is an indicator of progress for cities, discussing the functionality of these applications in daily lives of city residents is a sociological problem. Therefore, researching the functionality and efficiency of smart city applications is possible by exploring their social implications. To this end, this section examines the social implications of smart city applications using the example of Konya Metropolitan Municipality and focuses particularly on the Young Culture Card initiative. Findings based on interviews with 28 university students in Konya suggest that the Young Culture Card has a significant impact on socialization, cultural participation, and the sense of belonging among young people. The card enables students, particularly those from different cities, to access cultural, artistic, and educational activities that would otherwise be financially or socially inaccessible to them. However, participants emphasised the need for more career-focused opportunities, interactive platforms for youth initiatives, and better communication regarding existing services.

摘要
