This chapter presents a compilation of recent data on materials obtained by the immobilizationImmobilization of metalloporphyrinsMetalloporphyrins on layered double hydroxidesLayered double hydroxides (LDHs). First, different classes are described, emphasizing their structures and properties. After providing basic information about the structure and properties of porphyrinsPorphyrin and metalloporphyrinsMetalloporphyrins, several examples of immobilizationImmobilization of metalloporphyrinsMetalloporphyrins on different LDHs are described, emphasizing results obtained by our research group. After describing the different immobilizationImmobilization methods, some examples of applications are presented based on recent results from the literature. Novel and preliminary results of the immobilizationImmobilization and catalytic activities of two different metalloporphyrinsMetalloporphyrins immobilized on trimetallic LDHs from the shigaiteShigaite group, with the formulas Zn6-xMnxAl3(OH)18[Na(H2O)6(SO4)2]∙6H2O (x from 0 to 6 in steps of 2 units), are presented, and at the end, conclusions and future perspectives are identified.
