Transforming Language Learning: Examining the Role of Yoodli AI in Developing Oral Skills Among First-Year Undergraduates
摘要
This study examines the integration of Yoodli AI as a speech coaching tool to enhance oral communication skills among first-year undergraduate students. Conducted over one academic semester, the research focused on addressing common challenges in speaking courses, including performance anxiety and low confidence levels. The intervention employed Yoodli’s real-time feedback system alongside traditional assessment methods including rubrics, observation checklists, and student questionnaires. Results demonstrated significant improvements across all measured speaking competencies, particularly in fluency, pronunciation, and overall delivery. Notably, participants showed marked reduction in public speaking apprehension and increased willingness to engage in oral presentations. The AI tool proved particularly effective in providing personalized, immediate feedback that helped students identify and correct speech patterns. These findings suggest that AI-assisted language learning can effectively complement traditional teaching methods in higher education settings. The study contributes to the growing body of research on educational technology by demonstrating how AI tools like Yoodli can transform language learning experiences, making skill development more accessible and measurable while reducing psychological barriers to effective communication.
